The Many Faces of Change by Corvet Williams

Have you heard the saying that the only thing that is constant in life is change? At what age did you grasp what that really meant? How did it make you feel? Better yet, how does change make you feel and how do you respond to it?
Change comes in so many ways from what we do to change things to how things change with or without our help. I'm a planner. I'm the type of planner that gets upset when things don't go as planned. My maturity has been challenged by allowing room for change within a plan. It's hard, not a very easy task but attainable.
Then there is the change we drag our feet about. The change or changes we know we need to make but are scared to make because of the unknown. Because of the fear of change and what comes or doesn't come with it. I bet you can relate to that! I like the serenity prayer that states “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.” Powerful! And courage is the keyword. We need the courage to make that big leap into a new career position, not knowing if we can succeed. We need the courage to leave that not so healthy relationship. We need the courage to speak up for change. We need to have the courage to ask for that raise. We need the courage to move. We need the courage to let a loved one go out on their own. All of that courage is needed to make a change.
Let's not forget the human body that changes. We are considered lucky or blessed to see old age, and that too comes with many changes. Physically, mentally, etc there are multiple changes that we know about and others we find out about along the way. Like I knew my hair would gray, I just didn't expect ALL my hair to turn gray. How funny is that?! What about changes in family life? One day you are a mom with a full calendar of things to do for your kids and now they are grown and gone from home and you are twiddling your fingers trying to figure out what to do. You see how constant change is all around us? Everyday. Some changes we don't see them happening and some blindside us.

What were the biggest changes that challenged you? How did you deal? How did it make you better? Share your experiences. It can help the next BOSS be prepared for her next life change.
