Brand Essence by Felicia Shakespeare

Branding identification of a product is the understanding of how it directly relates in terms of focus with an emphasis on sales and marketing. The best business leaders consider these methods to be critical components for them to capitalize when promoting products and services. In most instances, how well this plan is implemented determines if a single product will ever make its way into the hands of the general public. A great marketing campaign that signifies one’s brand is most crucial to the success of its business growth. The paramount reason for being branded is to gain an acknowledged level of success (as success is defined by the strategy implementation within the strategic plan).

Personal Brand Defined

Let’s start right now with the aspect of what it means to be a personal brand. Personal branding is when an individual, instead of a business or entity, is the focus of the brand. A personal brand, in its true essence, is the way one represents himself or herself in and to the world. Though what people recognize most is the type of branding that applies to a business or entity, this book will focus on the personal side, which is the inside attributes. The perception of how we establish ourselves in any situation as individuals represents who we are to the world and how we are received by society as a whole is one of my top resolves on personal branding to date.

Who you are at all times will parlay into your personal, professional, and business lives.“You” are the reason that a brand even exists in any of these situations, why? Because you play a part in all of them. In other words, you, the individual or entity, can be viewed as the actual “product.” As the ingredients that create the product are visible in any product, there are intricacies that go into the creation of a personal brand that is not necessarily always visible. I tell people all the time you may be able to earn a degree but you can’t buy a personality.

“Building a personal brand IS personal”

The intentional steps we give towards growth and development, show us that we can become! Some say leaders are born, while others say they are made. I say brands are made too. As we begin to focus now on the things that intricately add to the success of a personal brand allowing you to leverage, use it, I encourage you to do some inner searching. Leveraging is displaying the value that you bring. Honesty, integrity, responsibility, mindset, and positioning are the key factors that constitute the creation of a personal brand and should be brought to the table EVERY time.  So, this question begs an honest answer from you . . . At this moment in time, if you had to sum up “your brand” in a word or two, what would it be?
