TheBOSSNetowrk: What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career?

Cozette M. White: The biggest obstacle that I encountered in the start-up of my business was implementing and developing online self-pace courses for my clients.

BN: What inspired you to break into your particular industry?

CW: I was mentored by my high school teacher, Mrs. Paramore. I can remember vividly having a conversation with her about my future dreams and aspirations. She insisted that I take an elective course, in which she instructed. It was during this period that Mrs. Paramore inspired me to explore a career in the field of Accounting/Finance.

BN: How do you balance your personal and professional life or have you been able to find a balance?

CW: I find balance in my personal and professional life by taking time to pamper me. I typically take getaway trips to unwind from it all.

BN: What is an inspirational quote that you live by?

CW: One inspirational quote that I live by is“You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

BN: Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?

CW: I have several influential people or mentors that have helped or encouraged me along the way. I’ve looked to these individuals for guidance in numerous ways. One person in particular that encouraged me to venture on this journey that I’ve been riding is Ms. Ky Smith. I remember sitting in her salon chair getting my hair done and we began discussing several things – speaking opportunities, expanding my existing business and leveraging opportunities that would position me for leaving a legacy.

BN: What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?

CW: I must continuously engage in personal development activities that propel and contribute to my individual growth. In addition, I must continuously invest in a coach.

BN: What is your definition of a BOSS?

CW: My definition of BOSS is being in control of my life and having realistic expectations about the day-to- day challenges which are perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life. No one is in control of my happiness; therefore, I have the power to change anything about myself and my life that I choose to change.
