What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career?

I won’t lie. Entrepreneurship was extremely tough in the beginning. It is the ultimate example of on-the-job training. One of the biggest obstacles was finding a retail space. I was told several times that I wouldn’t find the square footage that I wanted for the price that I wanted. I didn’t settle and I negotiated, and eventually, ended up in the perfect space for Greenhouse Mercantile to flourish and grow! 2. What inspired you to break into your industry? Honestly, I didn’t see a lot of shops that focused on sustainable living. Unfortunately, we are in the age of fast fashion. So to be able to take a spin on fashion, and bring back vintage clothing? It was truly something that I found remarkable! And my customers and clientele have responded wonderfully!

How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you been able to find a balance?

In order to run any successful business, I believe that you have to have a well-oiled support system. This can range from an amazing spouse to helpful kids to other family, friends, colleagues, and associates. I am so blessed to say that I have all of the above.

What is an inspirational quote that you live by?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.” Marianne Williamson

Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?

I would have to say that my good friend and mentor,, Valerie Dumas, was extremely encouraging on this entrepreneurial journey. I think that in order to be successful, you have to surround yourself with people that have a vision. Notice I didn’t say share your vision. But people that are not limited in their thinking.

What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?

I would say you have to have a great phone! Another must-have would be a plan. Never underestimate the power of a great plan. And as trivial as it may seem, I would say a great cup of coffee! Some of my best ideas come when I am holding a cup of coffee in my hand!

What is your definition of a BOSS?

When I think of the word boss, I think of someone who is not afraid to give back. So many times we feel threatened or inadequate, and so we hold our fists so closed and tight.. We hold onto our knowledge. We hold on to our finances. We hold onto things that the world needs from us. But what people don’t realize is that when you are holding on so tightly, nothing gets out. But also, nothing can get in. Don’t be afraid to give back.

Provide us with two words that describe you
