BOSS Spotlight Feature: Dianna King
We started severely undercapitalized in the food manufacturing industry which historically requires a significant amount of upstart capital to scale quickly and efficiently. Being a D2C (direct to consumer) required us to rely on our network and to build a solid community which takes time.
What inspired you to break into your industry?
Growing up with severe dairy allergies and later converting to veganism, I personally experienced how being isolated at the dinner table affected personal relationships and healthy eating habits. After losing a family member to cancer, I committed to a vegan lifestyle change and made it a personal mission to make healthy plant based diets tasty and accessible for everyone.
How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you been able to find a balance?
I personally find balance by communicating boundaries and respecting other people's boundaries. I also outsource tasks when I can.
Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?
I have so many mentors and peers that I look up to. However, the key characteristics that make them influential to me are their resilience and compassion for others while being super successful.
What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?
Must haves are a healthy work life balance and better cheddar cheese dips to snack on.
What is your definition of a BOSS?
My definition of a good BOSS is a person who is a leader that doesn’t ask people to do something that they wouldn't do, treats people with respect, and is always willing to learn something new.
What is an inspirational quote that you live by?
Surround yourself with people who believe in you a little more than you do.
