When is the last time you actually sat and thought about all you’ve achieved, all you’ve overcome, and all you’ve experienced? It’s so commonplace now for people to think that confidence is interchangeable with “conceit”, when in fact confidence is the thing that gets you to those achievements; helps you to overcome those obstacles; gets you through and gets you to those experiences! Women, in a nutshell, are already “super” - the problem is…we don’t give ourselves enough credit for simply existing. Without our wombs, there wouldn’t be Presidents, CEOs, mega recording artists, astronauts, and the list goes on. We have been instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement, producing hit television series, breaking barriers in ballet, the theater as well as sports, and writing legendary poetic pieces that will forever be national treasures. Is it starting to register that we actually keep the earth rotating on its axis? If ever you feel as though you aren’t “enough”, think about these three things:

● Because of the persistence and dedication of other women, they should serve as a reminder that you, too, can push through. You don’t have to be on a national platform to be great; you could be right in your kitchen cooking a meal for your family, after just closing major deals at the office. Sis, you did that!

● Someone sees you and keeps going BECAUSE of you. Yes! YOU. Someone was inspired by that Instagram post about how you changed careers in the middle of a pandemic; someone shared your story about how you lost everything and got it all back; someone heard you tell a young lady that no matter what has come upon her, she can still shine bright. Sis, you did that!

● You understand or are growing to understand, the power of your feminine energy. Women are nurturers by nature, and the softness that we have the ability to bring to the table is not a weakness at all, but a strength that no man can ignore. We have the power to change the energy in the room, simply by walking IN IT! That sway in our hips, our way with our words, the calming essence of our smile; sis, you did that!

You are capable; you are valuable; you are essential. Never forget whose shoulders we rest on; never downplay your personal existence; make self-care your ministry; live in the light of love. Know that with each step you take, you have broken another barrier! Sis…for real…YOU did that!
