1. What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career?
In the beginning, I faced obstacles in breaking into the fashion and technology industries. I found it to be a challenge to hone my craft, but I ultimately learned the importance of analyzing my work, building on my strengths, and working with a mentor.
2. What inspired you to break into your industry?
I was inspired to break into the industry by watching television. Watching shows like A Different World pivoted my attention to the fashion industry and costume design and styling. The Film Boomerang put my mind's attention on being a female Boss powerhouse.
3. How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you been able to find a balance?
In a dynamic society, you no longer have to put your career on hold. As a wife and mother, I set hard business boundaries and when work stops, family life begins. I find this to be key when trying to balance life.
4. What is an inspirational quote that you live by?
I believe you can have anything you want in life so dress for it because “if you stay ready, you won't have to get ready”.
5. Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?
My god aunty Rivien Murphy is a leader, wife, mother, Howard graduate, and entrepreneur that has led her community and company in Miami with style, grace, and prestige.
6. What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?
Keeping a healthy network and strong partnerships that help me conduct my business. In addition to that, productivity and keeping up with technology and software that enhance my tools to expand my business are also must-haves.
7. What is your definition of a BOSS?
A BOSS is a person that owns the room with presence, one that is confident in their own skin, and someone whose actions and words align.
