High Tech.2.0 is a service-disabled veteran-owned cybersecurity consulting firm founded by Tamekia Foley, dedicated to helping businesses navigate the complex world of cybersecurity and compliance with clarity and confidence. Rooted in military-grade precision, trust, and strategic innovation, High Tech.2.0 empowers manufacturers, defense contractors, and growing businesses to protect their operations, meet federal compliance standards, and build resilient digital infrastructures.
What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career? When I first started my business, some of the greatest challenges I faced included navigating the complex business landscape and aligning High Tech.2.0 with the stringent standards required for government contracting. Learning how to build a fully compliant company from the ground up, without a roadmap, tested both my resilience and my commitment to success.
What inspired you to break into your industry? Breaking into the tech field came with major obstacles, even with proper training and real-world experience. Despite my skills, I struggled to land a role — facing countless interviews that ended in rejection. Frustrated but determined, a trusted military colleague encouraged me to stop waiting for opportunities and start building my own. I took it a step further by anchoring my mission to my roots — growing up in a rural community where technology was scarce, fueled my relentless drive to create lasting change. My military career opened doors to leadership roles in IT, but witnessing firsthand how underserved businesses lacked even the most basic cybersecurity protections inspired me to build High Tech.2.0 — a company dedicated to delivering accessible, transformative solutions to those who need them most.
How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you found a balance? My balance stems from anchoring my day in faith, fitness, and focused action. I intentionally schedule daily check-ins with myself—spiritually, mentally, and physically—to ensure that I am showing up strong and centered for my clients and my company. Delegating tasks to my trusted team and giving myself permission to pause have been crucial. Balance remains a work in progress, and I embrace taking it one day at a time while managing multiple responsibilities.
What is an inspirational quote that you live by? “She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.”– Proverbs 31:25
Who were influential people or mentors who helped or encouraged you? My late grandmother was a tremendous influence when I first started my company, constantly reminding me, "God will always take care of you." She instilled the faith and strength that became the foundation of my journey. Professionally, my military leaders and tech mentors reinforced the importance of trusting my instincts, remaining mission-focused, and stepping boldly into leadership roles.
What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business strong? Faith, strategy, and community are non-negotiable. I need unwavering faith in weather challenges, a clear strategy to drive sustainable growth, and a strong community that fuels innovation, collaboration, and accountability. Staying anchored in my core values, mission, and vision ensures that every decision aligns with the greater purpose of High Tech.2.0.
What is your definition of a BOSS? A BOSS is a woman who leads with unwavering purpose, fierce courage, and transformative impact, building not just businesses but lasting legacies that inspire others to rise and realize their own potential.
