God is the BEST PR: How Faithfulness and Humility Elevate the Journey by Niehla O.

Niehla O. spent over 20 years in the fashion and beauty industry, but decided to pivot into a sector that can make people look good on the inside. After a chance encounter with a delicious green hummus blend, a late-night craving led her to start mixing her own unique hummus flavors. Her goal is to continue to spread love and hummus throughout our community.

When Homegirl’s Hummus began, it wasn’t just about chickpeas and flavor—it was about purpose. It was about obedience. It was about stepping out on faith with a recipe in one hand and a dream in the other, trusting that if I stayed faithful and humble, God would do the rest.

And let me tell you—He did.

The journey of business ownership is no easy path. It’s early mornings, late nights, long market days, sore feet, and a million decisions. It’s praying for good weather, counting every dollar, and pouring your heart into every container. But more than that, it’s a spiritual walk. A trust walk. A lesson in patience, stewardship, and staying true to who you are when no one is watching.

At Homegirl’s Hummus, we believe that when you’re faithful with the little, God will trust you with more. And that principle has carried us from one table at one market to multiple markets, a growing customer base, press features, and a powerful community that sees us, supports us, and believes in us.

Faithfulness Over Fame

When we show up at the market—whether it’s raining, 90 degrees, or everything in between—we’re not just setting up a booth. We’re showing God that we’re committed to the assignment. That we’re going to be consistent, even when we’re tired. That we’re going to serve people with excellence, even when the crowd is thin.

Because that’s what faithfulness looks like—it’s showing up before the blessing arrives. It’s staying obedient before the spotlight hits. It’s trusting that your consistency will be honored in God’s timing, not your own.

Humility Keeps Us Grounded

As the brand grows, so does the love. And while we’re grateful for every compliment, every post, every sold-out day, what keeps us grounded is humility. We never forget why we started. We never forget who made a way. We know this is bigger than hummus. This is ministry. This is legacy. This is an impact.

Humility means we give God the glory for every opportunity. It means we treat every customer with the same respect, whether they buy one container or ten. It means we stay teachable, stay grateful, and stay rooted in service.

Elevation Comes From God, Not People

The most powerful part of this journey has been watching how God opens doors we didn’t even knock on. Media opportunities, collaborations, divine connections—they come when we least expect them, but always right on time.

That’s the power of being faithful in your calling. That’s the promise of staying humble in your grind. Elevation doesn’t come from striving—it comes from serving. And when your heart is in the right place, God will position you where you need to be.

So if you’re walking your own journey—building, believing, praying, and pushing—we want you to know this: Stay faithful. Stay humble. Keep showing up.

God sees it all. And when the time is right, He will elevate you beyond anything you imagined.

With flavor and favor,

Niehla O.
