BOSS Spotlight: Meet The "MindShift Expert" Samantha Madhosingh, Psy.D,

Samantha Madhosingh, Psy.D, A psychologist, executive coach, bestselling author & speaker specializes in mind, body, & spirit transformation.  She has authored and coauthored multiple bestselling books including: Strike it Happy! 101 Reflections to Revolutionize Your Life, Motherhood Dreams & Success and You Are Whole, Perfect, and Complete…Just as You Are.

The BOSS Network: What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career?

Samantha Madhosingh, Psy.D:  I started my business 6 years ago after working in mental health for government and private organizations for many years. I naively believed that having a heart for serving others and helping them heal would mean that people who needed help would come and find me once my business was open. I was so very wrong. I had no clue about marketing or sales or what it would really entail to run a thriving business.

BN: What inspired you to break into your particular industry?

SM: My desire to be a psychologist came from wanting to help others heal and live a life of joy and happiness. Many people don’t believe that they can choose to be happy. I want to illuminate that path and inspire others to live their greatness.

BN: How do you balance your personal and professional life or have you been able to find a balance?

SM: I don’t really subscribe to the idea that there is really such a thing as perfect balance. I know what my priorities are and I keep them front and center. As a single mom of a 9-year-old, I am clear that my daughter is the most important factor in every single decision I make. I want to make the world a better place, make a difference, and be the best me I can be, all for her.

BN: What is an inspirational quote that you live by?

SM: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly. ~ Proverb” For me, butterflies are symbolic of transformation and the necessity of breaking through not only to get to the other side; but to blossom and thrive in all your beauty. It’s also about not giving up and being unstoppable in the face of obstacles and challenges.

BN: Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?

SM: Two people who were really influential in my early career are Dr. Ayana Watkins-Northern and Dr. Michael Barnes. They both supported and trained me when I interned at the Howard University Counseling Center. Later, Mark Schall and Kerri Myers really opened my eyes to the transformation that coaching can bring to the lives of others; but they also changed me and my outlook on my own life too. That was an extra gift I wasn’t expecting. And two ladies who inspire and influence me greatly today in terms of how they both serve others and how they run their businesses are Lisa Nichols and Sandra Yancey.

BN: What are your must-haves to keep your career or business going strong?

SM: A clear mind and a strong belief in myself and my vision. The pathway can get murky and without the right mindset, it is so easy to get derailed and get off course. How you think and what you believe about yourself and what you deserve, money, business, and life are the keys to success.

BN: What is your definition of a BOSS

SM: A woman who is BEING the woman she was divinely created to be in every single area of her life. She knows what she wants and she goes out there and doesn’t stop till she gets it. She doesn’t allow fear or her past to prevent her from living her destiny. And, most of all, she is inspired by love and inspires others to love.
