Porsha Green, the CEO of Purpose PR Agency LLC has committed 25+ years of excellence to the public relations industry. With a diverse group of clients ranging from authors to political leaders, Green’s expertise shines through in her signature strategy. 1. What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career? 

In the beginning process of starting my business, a major obstacle I faced was starting this journey still operating in an employee mindset. I spent way too much time working in my business as hired help. I should have studied and operated from a CEO and business owners mindset.  As an Owner, your focus should be to strategize, build and work on the structure of your business. Making sure your financial structure is in place correctly. Learning everything needed legally from corporation documents to important insurance coverages. Most importantly creating multiple plans to secure my retirement, company expansion, or unforeseen profit loss.  

2. What inspired you to break into your industry? 

I am naturally half creative & half administrative. In college, I started off as a journalism major, well, that didnt last too long since I hated the editor completely tearing apart my original story. I moved onto Mass Communications and touched everything under this field and this is where I fell in love with marketing and public relations and I have been in the field since 1993.

3. How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you been able to find a balance?

This is such a great question.  This is an everyday quest and challenge for me honestly. In my world, it is easy to mix communications, events, social media and devices together. I have definitely forced myself to have boundaries for space, spiritual, and mental rest! You can never go wrong by putting boundaries in place and investing in yourself. My children and my parents are my complete definition of real love, support, and a Safe Haven. My family and close friends are my laughter and rest. I make time daily to be present in the right now. I was told a long time ago you have to teach people how to treat you! 


4. What is an inspirational quote that you live by?

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”  -Maya Angelou 


5. Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?

Without a doubt, God is truly my constant help and encouragement. I stay in praise and prayer every day. Im a living walking testimony of what trusting him looks like.

6. What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?

A strong team helps my agency keep moving and growing. I must have clients who understand the financial value, importance, and time it takes in our industry to elevate your brand with Public Relations. Must have the respect of healthy boundaries in place. 

7. What is your definition of a BOSS?

A Boss is an ambitious idealistic leader that creates memorable impression in their field. That influential person who is humble enough to get in the trenches with their team when needed. They are a teacher with a powerful impact that doesnt mind teaching, giving back, and helping pave the way for others. They help create and speak life and purpose into new leaders from their blueprint. Simply someone who inspires you to be your very best at anything you aspire to have and be in life.
