Luna Style CEO, Catherine Mercedes is an accomplished entrepreneur with over 30 years of corporate experience at Con Edison. An Afro-Latina from the Dominican Republic. Luna Style was founded in October 2021. The focal points are wellness, fitness, professional development, and sports apparel. In 2019, she received the award for “Mujer Descatada 2019” by Diario la Prensa. Mrs. Mercedes earned her BA in Management from Manhattan College honors Cum laude, a master’s in Organizational leadership from Mercy college honors Delta Mu Delta, and Construction Project Management Certification from the General Society of Mechanic and Tradesmen.

What were some obstacles that you faced in the beginning process of starting your business or career?
The obstacle I faced was the understanding that not everyone will believe in your vision or mission and standing my ground and maintaining focus will allow me to refocus my energy on investing in myself and my company.
My passion and mission are to leave a legacy behind. There is no better way than to follow my dreams to the end.

What inspired you to break into your industry?
What inspired me was the impact on my life throughout the pandemic. I underwent three surgeries within two years. This was attributed to me not being in shape.
I am committed to evolving the way we see wellness and fitness and taking my business to the next level. 



How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you been able to find a balance?
My personal & professional life intertwine due to the significance of health & wellness. Every day is a new day, we can incorporate better habits and live a healthier lifestyle. 



What is an inspirational quote that you live by?
-Philippians 4:13-
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”

Who were some influential people or mentors that helped or encouraged you along the way?
Lilliana Gonzalez was one of the most influential women in my life. Her resilience, courage, and empowerment inspired me to be just like her. She made a difference in many women’s lives, especially mine.

What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business going strong?
Lead with integrity and honesty. People want to know the truth and will respect you more for it. 


What is your definition of a BOSS?
My best definition of a BOSS is BRAVE, OPTIMISTIC, SINCERE, SUCCESSFUL

BOSS & Sage Announce 2024 Invest in Progress Grant Winners

We’re excited to announce the recipients of the 2024 Invest in Progress Grant, a collaborative initiative by Sage and The BOSS Network . This partnership has seen Sage commit funding over three years to empower small businesses with the resources they need to thrive. The selected recipients stand out for their dedication to community, entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to grow their professional skills.  Each will be awarded a $10,000 grant and gain access to a year-long monthly mentorship program through BOSS Business University. This online platform is designed to provide the tools and knowledge necessary to successfully launch or grow a business. The partnership, in its third year, received almost 12,000 applicants nationwide.
