One of the major obstacles I faced when starting my business was the transition from a stable corporate job with a six-figure salary to the uncertainty of entrepreneurship. After quitting my corporate job, I struggled with common fears entrepreneurs face, such as financial security, independence, and the fear of failure. However, with the support of family, friends, and colleagues, I managed to overcome these challenges and successfully run an online resume writing service business. Their encouragement and belief in my vision were crucial in helping me navigate the initial hurdles and establish a thriving business.
What inspired you to break into your industry?
My inspiration to enter the resume writing industry came from my extensive corporate background, where I saw the common job search challenges job seekers face. I wanted to provide affordable, high-quality job search documents to boost their confidence and help professionals land interviews. I started by reviewing and editing resumes for colleagues, leveraging my recruitment and technical writing skills. This fueled my passion for helping others succeed, leading me to establish my resume writing service.
How do you balance your personal and professional life, or have you found a balance?
Balancing my personal and professional life has been a journey, but I’ve found effective ways to manage it. I pursue personal interests like traveling, spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, meditating, and mentoring youth. Professionally, I engage in motivational speaking and manage a thriving resume-writing business. These activities help me unwind, stay motivated, and maintain a healthy balance.

Who were influential people or mentors who helped or encouraged you?
Influential people who have helped and encouraged me include my family, friends, and colleagues. Their support and belief in my abilities have been instrumental. My family provided a strong foundation and encouragement, my friends offered valuable advice and motivation, and my colleagues shared their expertise and experiences, contributing to my growth and success.
What are your "must-haves" to keep your career or business strong?
To keep my business strong, essential elements include expanding my network, building a successful team of writers and career coaches, providing high-quality services, maintaining an active social media presence, and continuously promoting my business. These aspects are vital for sustaining growth, staying connected with industry trends, and ensuring we deliver the best services to our clients.
