A Call To Women by Suzanne Peters

Image
Can you imagine a world where everyone had to figure out everything for themselves? A situation where nobody could learn anything from anybody else. Languages wouldn’t evolve, any breakthroughs in Math and Science would have to be repeated over and over again. Progress would only ever be able to go so far. And not very far at that. It’s doubtful that every new person would be able to figure out how to start a fire, then how to use it to make goods, and so on. Individually isolated humanity would never advance beyond hunter-gatherers - if they even survived at all.  What if we were allowed some freedom - say you could communicate with the people in your community, but no one anywhere else. You would make some progress. People could pass on some of their knowledge and so on. You may even be able to get to where we are right now, but it would surely take longer. What am I getting at?  As the famous saying goes,  “Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough...

2Brand You, Part II: Building Your Brand – ‘I Scream for Ice Cream’ by Dawn Jordan Jones

So you have a product or service.  What’s the next step? How do you build your brand?  Simply put, branding is your character in the marketplace and you need it in order to effectively promote your business, services/products or yourself in your arena.     Your brand is present in everything that you do and how you present it to the world.  Branding encompasses much more than that.  Branding permeates every facet of your business beginning with creating an identity.  Remember your brand is who, what and why you are.  That is the basis of your identity.   Your identity speaks to the core of you and your business.  When people think of you, they will identify with how your product or service make them feel.     I love ice cream.  Like really love ice cream.  My first job was at a locally own softserve store.  I believe that the love of ice cream is pretty universal.  Most people l...

5 Entertainment PR, Branding, & Publicity Tips for Every Brand by Daria Fennell

Image
I have had the pleasure of interviewing Taraji P. Henson and John Legend and the honor of meeting Mary J. Blige. What do these 3 celebrities have in common? They are constantly recreating and reinvigorating their very successful longstanding brands. After 26 years of being a CEO, Director of PR & Brand Strategy, & Celebrity Entertainment Journalist of The Daria Fennell Media Group, I have learned more than a few Entertainment PR, Branding, & Publicity tips that every brand can implement.  Here we go: 1) Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready .  Make sure to keep your collateral (i.e. your electronic press kit (EPK), website, press releases, bios) up-to-date so that you are able to take advantage of opportunities that arise quickly. It is always better to be proactive rather than reactive. 2) Freshen up your brand from time to time .   Every so often, it will definitely benefit your brand to update your logo or to get a new logo altogether. The new energy su...

The World on the Wheel by Suzanne Peters

Image
The world is at your fingertips and the new one is just below that.  In what is possibly the world’s most famous statue, The Thinker sits, his clenched fist supporting his head. Over time his meaning has changed from thinker to dreamer and ultimately, to creator. The world is at his fingertips because his head rests upon his hand. The mind is the filter through which we view reality. For most people that reality is filtered through their environment and experiences because the mind processes our senses. But our senses are just the default setting, our conscious mind is the game-changing lens. The only world, we experience is the one we think we do. If we believe ourselves to be trapped in a system that can neither be changed nor challenged then chances are we will live that out. It all boils down to this one question. Is this big spinning ball we call earth the potter’s wheel... or the clay itself? If you think it’s the former then you will allow yourself to spin in circles, being ...

2Brand You, Part I: You Are the Brand by Dawn Jordan Jones

Webster’s Dictionary defines a brand as 1) to make an indelible impression on the memory/senses; 2) an association of positive qualities with a widely recognized name, as of a product line/celebrity. Essentially your brand is something that represents you AND shares how you impress on the world. Your brand is what shows up before you get to the room, is with you in the room, and is there long after you leave the room. Your brand is what represents who you are, what you do, and why you are and it is to be protected at all costs. Believe it or not, you are your brand. Don’t believe me? Let’s look at a certain unnamed celebrity. Said celebrity has successfully played a beloved father figure for several years on television. America became accustomed to seeing this person as a father figure - developing the ‘father figure’ brand. Years later, long after the show has been in syndication, this father figure is allegedly accused of indiscretions with several women. How could a fathe...
