Your Start Up & Social Media: Are They Aligned? Three Tips To Determine Social Media Stability By Lauran A. Smith

What isn’t going anywhere any time soon is the wide world of Social Media. It will continue to grow, which places higher demands on brands, businesses and other organizations. I recently had a conversation with a popular musician, who wasn’t using one of social media’s most widely used picture and video apps; Instagram. With him being so visible, and with sponsors and endorsements galore, he was advised (by one of his sponsors) that he had to create an Instagram account, as the ones endorsing his brand were highlighting him frequently. Needless to say, he now has an Instagram account. There is no way around “needing” social media for your brand or business. It is a fact that your social media accounts and your brand’s message should completely align with one another. There are quite a number of things that you can do to ensure that you are sending the right messages out to your current and potential clients and customers, but let’s start with three! 1. As a new busi...

How To Lead In Business By V. Taybron

As an Entrepreneur you are a leader. Whether you want to be or not, people are looking at you to lead because you have started something. Some leaders are good and some are great. I don’t know about you but I’d rather be great. If we look at history until today we can all think of some great leaders: Martin Luther King, Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Oprah, Bill Gates, Sara Blakely, and more. There is no such thing as an island and no one becomes great by their own efforts. If your goal is to become a better leader, you have to begin to do the things that leaders do in order to become wildly successful. Implement these strategies and become great in your own right as an entrepreneur. Delegate: Google is a huge international brand. I can’t tell you how many times I go to Google in a day. I would estimate between 8-10 times. Most would agree that Google is a great company. However, there is no way that Google could have become what it is today without the help o...

2015 is the year of the BOSS CHICK and it’s so beautiful to watch so many women launch new brands and embark upon the journey of Entrepreneurship! As you embark on your Entrepreneurial journey, here are 7 essentials that your start-up will need: 1. A domain Whenever I think of a new business idea, I check to see if the domain name is available. If it is, I purchase it- whether I have a business plan, strategy or even a full concept in mind. If the concept is on your mind, surely it’s on someone else’s too!  2.Blog Successful entrepreneurs have established trustworthy brands. In order to gain the trust of your clients, you have to establish yourself as an expert. The easiest way to do that is by blogging about the topics that fit your expertise, industry or interests. Blogging is free and allows you to have a voice!  3.Business Email Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT use @yahoo @hotmail @me @aol or any other personal email extension. If you absolutely refuse to go through th...

Daydream on Purpose by Dorothy Enriquez

I bumped into two people before I could withdraw a number from the red dispenser.  The number 16 was displayed on the overhead screen; I pulled 27. Sending packages was a popular pass time for which I never received the memo. Music wasn’t an option. I forgot my headphones. I couldn’t read a magazine; I didn’t pack one in my go-go gadget hand bag. Surfing the inter-web was out of the question due to lack of reception. What was a girl to do? Daydream of course.  I dreamt of the future: I was dressed to conquer the world in cadet blue slacks, a white and blue pin-striped-long-sleeved blouse and metallic-silver-four-inch heels. Large windows traced the entire perimeter of the building. Large gray/blue tiles made the floor appear endless. There wasn’t a cubicle or piece of furniture in sight. Six groups of people stood before me awaiting instructions in the airy and naturally lit office space. Two groups were from my company and the other four were unfamiliar. I lifted b...
